SharedSpaces at PAW - Call for Artists

Shared Spaces is a low-tech, high-community performance series seeking to build community through art-making and performance.

Pioneered by Heather Glabe, Performing Arts Workshop presents an exciting weekend of dance and community in April. We are looking for artists to participate. In the process of this series participants will create work, present and support each other, and engage in peer feedback using Liz Lehrman’s critical response process. PAW offers space grants to participating artists and profits will be split evenly between house and artists after expenses each weekend.

4/11 & 4/12 Saturday and Sunday evening at 7pm

- Works created will involve 8 dancers max and be no more than 10 minutes in duration.

- Artists will participate in at least one peer driven critical response process session. This is the exciting part of the Shared Spaces Lab: working together to make excellent work. You and your cast will need to be available either: ***** 3/7 or 3/14*** after 4pm to participate in this series. Learn more about the process here: https://lizlerman.com/critical-response-process/

- Performing Arts Workshop will grant up to 2 hours of free rehearsal space per week beginning inJanuary. You will get 2+ hours of weekly studio space beginning in January. The studio space times will generally be the “off” times at PAW. You may need to sometimes rehearse in the smaller studio.

- The box office and bar profits (after expenses) will be split by each weekend: 1/2 to the house and the other 1/2 to be divided equally among the participating artists.

- With guidance, you and, as much as possible, your dancers will help to set up and break the space for each performance. Not only does this get the show going, but it allows the community to get to know one and other through working together.

- PAW will provide staffing for tickets, bar, and provide you with social media support and e-blast to a community of North County dancegoers.

If you are interested in participating, please send in your information by 1/11/2020. We will finalize programing by 1/13/20 and send out a short contract confirming your studio time(s), performance times, and critical response session.
